Alan S. Rutkin is a Partner in the firm's Insurance & Coverage Litigation Practice Group. He has special expertise in insurance coverage disputes involving environmental matters and other complex claims.

A frequent speaker on litigation and insurance topics, Mr. Rutkin has spoken at the A.M. Best Insurance Information & Technology Conference, the American Conference Institute, the Canadian Institute, the New York City Bar Association, the Insurance Federation of New York, and Avus International Loss Adjusters (Austria). He also chaired the New York State Bar Association Federal Civil Practice Program.

For the past ten years, Alan Rutkin has also authored articles on many aspects of insurance coverage litigation. Mr. Rutkin has authored a defense litigation column for Best's Review. Additionally, he has written for the Federation of Insurance & Corporate Counsel as well as other leading publications. The American Society of Business Press Editors presented Mr. Rutkin with an award for Editorial Excellence.

Alan Rutkin is a member of the firm's Executive Committee and leads the firm's pro bono program. He is General Counsel to Action Long Island, and holds multiple leadership positions in the American Bar Association's Tort & Insurance Practice Section.

Active in his residential community, Mr. Rutkin has served on the Board of Trustees in the Great Neck Estates Civic Association and is past President of the Great Neck Rotary. Through Rotary, Mr. Rutkin coordinated an annual Thanksgiving food drive which has fed thousands of people, and has been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally. He is active in the Steinberg Leadership Institute of the Anti-Defamation League, and is a coach for the Police Athletic League.
